He was born in Ludlow, Missouri September 6, 1922 and is survived by his daughter, Jeanne Robinson Baird; granddaughter, Michelle Baird Walrond and her husband Wayne, and their son David Christian (Hendersonville, Tennessee); grandson, Michael Glade Baird and wife Teri Leigh (Springfield, Missouri); and sisters in law Pat Robinson (Kansas City, Missouri), Mary Lou McIrvin (Chillicothe, Missouri), Corrine Tevis (Lee's Summit, Missouri), and Adeline Tevis (Bloomington, Illinois) and several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and newphews. Preceding him in death was his mother, Viola Flynn Robinson and his father, Clifton Bretland Robinson; and beloved wife of 65 years, Betty Maxine Tevis Robinson; sisters, Cecil Ulrich and her husband Henry (Ludlow, Missouri), Faye Sneden and her husband Tommy (Topeka, Kansas); brothers Merle Robinson, Berl Robinson, and Donald (John) Robinson; brothers in law James Tevis and his wife Rita (Terrytown, New York), Dan Tevis and his wife Dorothy (Chillicothe, Missouri), Clarence Tevis (Seneca, Kansas), Robert Tevis (Bloomington, Illinois), and Franklin McIrvin (Chillicothe, Missouri).
Keith Robinson was raised during the depression years in rural Missouri where he hunted game to help feed the family and played pool for the house at his father's general store. July 15, 1941, at the age of 18 he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was stationed aboard the USS Kula Gulf, USS White Plains, and the USS Pennsylvania. He came home from WWII December 1945. He was a math whiz and was offered a scholarship at Rolla School of Minds, but was unable to accept the offer because he had a family to support. After the War, he moved the family to Bloomington, Illinois to find work. When General Electric Corporation opened a plant there in 1955 he went to work for them and retired from GE in 1983.
Keith and Betty Robinson were founding members of Calvary Baptist Church, Normal, Illinois in 1962 and remained members of the church until they moved to Oklahoma City, OK to be near their only child in 1997.
He loved to garden and always had a very large vegetable garden where he spent much of his free time. He enjoyed animals and had many pets, his favorites were his poodles, Jaques and Napolean and his Himalyan Cat, Annie. He and his wife, Betty, loved to travel and visited nearly every state in the union with their daughter. They also enjoyed traveling with good friends and family and visited Mexico, Canada, Germany, Switzerland, West Africa, Tanzania, Spain, Holland, and France.
A Memorial Service will be held at Calvary Baptist Church, 17 N. School Street, Normal, Illinois 61761 at 5 PM Friday March 24th in the Logan Chapel.
